Anyway, once I became interested in nutrition, I found a way to heal my stomach lining naturally and was able to get rid of the ulcer symptoms and I was thrilled to say the least. After balancing my body through diet and supplements, I had found a new way to deal with various ailments.
Unfortunately, my grandmother developed Alzheimer’s Disease and passed away after suffering for many years in this state. However, the interesting part is that when she went into the nursing home, she was able to get off most of her medications. The medications just were not necessary. I swore that I never wanted to be on medications in my life after watching my grandmother rush from doctor to doctor only to be prescribed pill after pill with no real solution. I decided to go to chiropractic school to address the cause of symptoms vs. treating symptoms. I had never even gone to a chiropractor before, and in fact, I thought they were quacks. Medical doctors did not think too highly of chiropractors and they did not regard what they did as anything important.
However, based on what I saw with my grandmother, I wanted to help people but there was no way I would prescribe drugs to people that I did not do the research on these medications and could not stand behind the “product”, not knowing if this could potentially kill someone or cause great damage with side effects.
Fast forward, my father had a stroke when I was 43 and this happened after getting a spinal cortisone shot for severe pain from a completely broken disc in his lower back. This was devastating for me as a chiropractor, because the disc had broken off a piece in the spinal canal and chiropractic was no longer an option. My father was in excruciating pain and I could not help him. My father was much like my grandmother, even though that was my mother’s mom, in that he ran from doctor to doctor getting new prescriptions. He was taking 30 pills a day when he had his stroke. The thing that really upsets me is that most of the drugs he was taking caused him to develop new diseases, for example Lipitor (statin drug) caused my dad’s diabetes, leg cramps and neuropathy.
This is where I finally saw the damage these drugs were capable of. My dad had a stroke 15 minutes after the administration of that fatal cortisone shot. He then stayed in a bed for the next 7 years and never stood or walked again on his own.
My passion is deeply rooted and I am here to help as many people as I possibly can to help heal their bodies in desperation without adding on new medications. I do not prescribe medications, nor do I take people off medications. I am not a medical doctor, nor do I want to be. However, I can help to guide you to see what is not balanced and to help you to speak with your doctor about other options and about improving your overall health before it is too late. Living in a bed or a wheelchair is not the best quality of life.
My goal is to help you maintain your independence and improve your overall quality of life. If you work with me, I promise to give you 100% of my knowledge and refer you out when I cannot help you. I am not perfect and I do not claim to be, but I am committed to those who start working with me on the journey to health and wellness.
